Instagram Story Viewer

Type a username and see what a public account posted in the last 24 hours. No login, nothing installed.

Public content only. Nothing is posted, liked or seen on your behalf.

What a story viewer actually does

A story is a post that disappears after 24 hours. Inside the app you cannot open one without an account, and the author sees a list of everyone who watched. A viewer sits in between: it asks Instagram for the public stories of an account and shows them as plain files. You are not signed in anywhere, so your name has nothing to appear next to. What it cannot do is reach a closed account — if the profile is private, its stories are private too, and no service can change that.

What to expect

Username is enough

You do not need a direct link to a story. The account name is all it takes.

Nothing is left behind

You are not logged in, so you do not show up in the viewers list and nothing is liked or followed on your behalf.

Empty is a valid answer

If the account posted nothing in the last day, there is simply nothing to show. That is not an error.

Questions

Will the author know I watched?
No. Watching through a viewer does not put you in the list the author sees, because you are not signed in to any account of your own.
Why is the result empty for an account that clearly posts?
Stories live 24 hours. If the last one expired an hour ago, there is nothing left to fetch. Highlights are a different thing — those are saved collections that stay.
Can I open a private account this way?
No, and be wary of anything that promises otherwise. A closed profile is only visible to approved followers, and there is no way around that from the outside.
